Oneida Indian Nation Homelands (March 16, 2022) – This morning, Turning Stone and representatives from the World Series of Poker® (WSOP) celebrated the kick-off of New York’s first-ever WSOP tournament with a special event in the Lounge with Caesars Sports. Over the next 12 days, thousands of guests expected to travel to Upstate New York and participate in the tournament and compete fora chance to win more than $1 million, a seat in the WSOP “Tournament of Champions” in Las Vegas, and 15 different opportunities to take home an iconic WSOP ring.
“For the next 12 days, Central New York will be the capital of poker in America,” said Guy Renzi, Vice President of Gaming for Oneida Nation Enterprises. “When people hear World Series of Poker, they know it’s going to be a massive tournament, huge guarantees, and exciting action, and when you couple that with Turning Stone’s impeccable reputation for guest service and providing exceptional guest experiences, you know this is going to be a March to remember.”
Turning Stone is in a very elite global group. Being selected to host a WSOP Circuit event in 2022 was awarded to fewer than 15 casinos in the world, distinguishing Turning Stone as the only WSOP Circuit event in the Northeast.
“During my previous World Series of Poker event, I usually get a dozen questions about the next event, but we’ve had hundreds of players specifically ask about the event here at Turning Stone,” said Dennis Jones, World Series of Poker Tournament Director. “From the moment I pulled into the resort, I was truly amazed by the beauty of the property; from the restaurants to the hotels, I know the players are going to be excited to be here at Turning Stone.”
“Whether you’ve been playing poker for decades or just starting out, this is the perfect time to come out and get in on the World Series of Poker action,” said Frank Foti, Turning Stone Director of Poker. “We’ve had a lot of professional poker players get their start here at Turning Stone and we’re looking forward to welcoming many of them back and seeing a lot of new faces.”
Turning Stone Poker Dealer Jill Caruso said, “Everyone is talking about the World Series of Poker. Young and old, new players and those who have been playing for decades, they’re all looking forward to their chance to play in the biggest, most prestigious poker tournament on the planet. This is a poker player’s dream.”
Players interested in participating in the World Series of Poker at Turning Stone can register in person in the Turning Stone Event Center beginning tomorrow, March 17. The tournament continues until Monday, March 28.
